Update: We have sold out all 50 seats for the Corn Eating Contest. You can still Register to be on the standby list for those who do not show up. We expect to have a few no-shows. Registration is from 2-2:45pm the day of the event. All contestants who have registered must be registered in person before 2:45. At that time, we will register people from the stand-by list. OFFICIAL RULES
• $10 Entry Fee to be paid prior to the start of event
• 50 Contestant Limit.
• Contestants will have 10 minutes to eat as many ears of corn as possible.
• Ears must be completely eaten.
• Corn must be eaten horizontally and not vertically.
• Gus’s Crab Shack Judges will make the final determination.
• Corn must be swallowed to count and must be “kept down” to count towards the final total.
• The contestant that eats the most corn in the designated time will be the winner.
• A tie will force a 3 minute overtime. If overtime results in a tie, the winnings will be split evenly between the overtime participants.
• Prizes are as follows: 1st Place: $1000.00; 2nd Place: $250.00; 3rd Place: $100.00
• Prize money will be awarded at the end of the contest.
• Contestants must be 18 years of age or older to win.
• Each contestant grants the right to use their name, city of residence, and photograph to publicize the event.
• Employees of Gus’s Crab Shack or any members of their immediate family cannot participate.
• Gus’s Crab Shack Management has the right to disqualify any entries.
• All of these rules and regulations are subject to the sole interpretation of Gus’s Crab Shack in its sole discretion. Any decisions of Gus’s Crab Shack with respect to and all of these rules and regulations shall be final and binding on all participants.
• Odds on winning depend on the number of entries. Prizes are not transferable and no substitution or prizes is permitted
• All taxes associated with the receipt or use of any prizes is the sole responsibility of the winner.
